Flying into Auckland
Auckland Airport (AKL) is New Zealand’s largest international airport and the primary gateway for delegates travelling from Australia, other parts of New Zealand, and further afield.
From Australia
Direct flights to Auckland operate from Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, and Perth. The main carriers on Trans-Tasman routes are Air New Zealand, Qantas, and Jetstar, with Virgin Australia offering connections to Auckland via codeshare arrangements with Air New Zealand. Flight times range from approximately 3 hours from the east coast cities to around 5 hours from Perth.
We recommend checking Air New Zealand, Qantas, Jetstar, and Virgin Australia for schedules and fares.
From within New Zealand
Air New Zealand operates frequent direct services to Auckland from Christchurch, Wellington, Queenstown, Hamilton, Dunedin, Napier, Palmerston North, Nelson, and a number of regional centres. Jetstar also serves several of the main routes.
International delegates
Auckland Airport is well connected to major international hubs, with direct services operated by Air New Zealand, Qantas, Singapore Airlines, Emirates, Cathay Pacific, China Southern, Korean Air, and several other carriers. Delegates travelling from outside Australia and New Zealand are encouraged to check routings through their nearest hub – Singapore, Hong Kong, Dubai, and Los Angeles are among the most common connecting points for Auckland.

Getting around
From Auckland Airport to the Sir Neil Waters Building, Massey Albany Campus
The campus is approximately 37km north of Auckland Airport. Allow around 35–45 minutes by car outside peak hours; travel times can be significantly longer during morning peak traffic, particularly crossing the Auckland Harbour Bridge on State Highway 1.
By Car or Rideshare
Driving is the most straightforward option for most delegates. From the airport, take State Highway 20 connecting to State Highway 1 northbound, cross the Harbour Bridge, and continue on the Northern Motorway to the Albany/SH17 interchange. Rideshare services (Uber, Ola) are available from the Transport Pick-up Zone at the international terminal and from the domestic terminal forecourt.
By Taxi
Taxis are available at the designated taxi rank at both terminals. The fare to Albany is typically in the range of NZD $80–$110 depending on traffic and time of day.
By Shuttle
Super Shuttle operates shared transfers between Auckland Airport and North Shore/Albany destinations. Bookings can be made in advance at supershuttle.co.nz, or the service can be arranged on arrival at the airport.
By Public Transport
There is no direct public transport service from the airport to Albany. The journey involves a bus connection into central Auckland, then a transfer to the Northern Express (NX1 or NX2) busway – a dedicated rapid transit route that connects the city centre to Albany Station – followed by a local bus to campus. The total journey is approximately 1.5 hours. Plan your trip using Auckland Transport’s Journey Planner. Auckland’s public transport network uses the AT HOP card (reloadable smart card), available for purchase at the airport; contactless payment is also accepted on most services.
Parking on Campus
Limited visitor car parking is available on campus. Overflow paid parking is also available at QBE Stadium, Car Park H (entry from Coliseum Drive), at a cost of $1 per hour up to a maximum of $5 per day. Delegates are encouraged to check with the event organisers for specific parking guidance closer to the forum date. A campus map is available at massey.ac.nz. Massey University
